Road Design Software

With its original design workflow, Plateia provides the user with commands and tools to support the entire design process; from the initial input of survey data to complex 3D road models with analysis tools to documentation and publishing features. Using its flexible data model, Plateia can be easily integrated into BIM processes. Plateia includes functionality for DTM, grading, alignments, profiles, cross-sections, intersections, traffic circles/roundabouts, 3D modeling, traffic signs and markings. It can easily handle large projects with alignment lengths of several hundred kilometers. Plateia assists the user in the preparation of professional drawings including the technical documentation such as volume calculations with comprehensive mass-haul diagrams according to several roadway design standards. The 3D model environment enables the user to apply various analyses to the design such as swept path, visibility, road water runoff, and more. Plateia has been used in several countries for projects ranging from urban roads and intersections to countless reconstructions and large scale highway projects:

Create cross axes in multiple ways.

Automatic labeling.

Transfer points/lines from sections into plan view or 3D.

Cross sections 

This module contains the commands needed to process and analyze cross-sections:

Plot existing ground and roadway sections.

Simple design of cross-sections with various cross section elements (embankment shoulder, ditch, drainage, substructure, pavement/sidewalk, conditional element).

Editing, labeling, dimensioning of cross-sections.

Tools for defining, editing and applying typical cross-sections.

 

Longitudinal Sections 

This module contains the commands needed to process and analyze alignment profiles:

Design the vertical geometry of the road.

Calculate and edit superelevations.

The Plateia workflow consistently follows the standard civil engineering roadway design process used in Europe, which intuitively leads the designer from the start to the successful finish of the project.

Plateia is available in several languages and supports country specific road design standards, drawing layouts, traffic signs and other symbols, vehicles, etc. Plateia customers are entitled to use any country specific version of the software in case of designing projects for the foreign countries.

Road projects can be very efficiently divided among multiple team members who can then work simultaneously. Projects can be split into layout & horizontal alignment drawings, longitudinal-section drawings and cross-section drawings.

Alignments design tools “par excellence”

Plateia contains powerful alignment design and editing methods and tools. They allow you to design any combination of tangent/spiral or compound spiral/arc elements. With intelligent Best Fit algorithms you can design alignments automatically based on surveyed points.

Unique cross-section design concept

The “Design in one, draw in several cross-sections” concept allows efficient processing and editing of cross-sections. Different levels of automation allow for the fast design of segments with similar cross-sections as well as handling the cross-sections where the conditions change frequently. Each cross-section can be treated individually with interactive drafting and editing commands.

Native CAD application

Plateia is fully integrated into the CAD environment. All the data are stored in one or more DWG files. The drawings can be modified with CAD commands at any design stage giving you complete flexibility in the design process.

Modular structure

Plateia has a modular structure. Modules can be installed separately or in any combination. In conjunction with network licensing options (floating modules and floating packages) Plateia corporate installation can be specifically tailored for each customer.

CAD platform choice

Plateia can be installed on top of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D or BricsCAD, where the functionality always remains the same. In the future additional CAD platforms will be supported. This CAD platform choice gives Plateia customers the possibility to optimize their “Cost of ownership” without sacrificing function abilities.
