This module is comprised of commands for processing input data, and drafting in plan view:
Digital terrain model capable of handling several million points.
Manipulation of survey points and connections.
Insert and edit topographic and other symbols.
Raster image manager.
Calculations and interpolations.
Utilities for dimensioning and processing of plan view.
Layout plan production tools.
Horizontal alignment-related utilities.
Horizontal visibility analysis.
This module provides the user with powerful commands for manipulating horizontal alignments:
Design and edit horizontal alignments with three different methods and the option to combine all three into one single alignment.
Create horizontal alignments based on surveyed points with best-fit method that automatically produces tangents, arcs and spirals.
Create cross axes in multiple ways.
Transfer points/lines from sections into plan view or 3D.
This module contains the commands needed to process and analyze cross-sections:
Plot existing ground and roadway sections.
Simple design of cross-sections with various cross section elements (embankment shoulder, ditch, drainage, substructure, pavement/sidewalk, conditional element).
Editing, labeling, dimensioning of cross-sections.
Tools for defining, editing and applying typical cross-sections.
This module contains the commands needed to process and analyze alignment profiles:
Design the vertical geometry of the road.
Calculate and edit superelevations.
Vertical visibility analysis.
strong>Road water runoff analysis.
Calculate takeoff quantities.
Several tools for processing (add blocks, dimensions, zoom sections…).
Cross-sections plan production tools.
This module expands the designer's ability to create and analyze by providing tools for Traffic Signalization, Intersection Design and Swept Path Analysis:
Autopath – horizontal and vertical swept path analysis.
Draw, edit and create reports from traffic signs.
Design pavement markings (crosswalks/zebra crossings, longitudinal markings, ghost islands, etc.).
Present traffic signs and pavement marking in 3D view to create effective visualizations.
Splitter island design (teardrop, triangular).
Complete traffic circle/roundabout design.
Curb return fillets.
The Plateia workflow consistently follows the standard civil engineering roadway design process used in Europe, which intuitively leads the designer from the start to the successful finish of the project.
Easy to learn and use
Well-structured ribbons, menus and simple dialogues enable fast learning for the first time user while the toolbox and command line options are provided for the convenience of experienced users.
Handling of large data sets
Plateia is capable of handling large projects with very long alignments and thousands of cross-sections within seconds. You can easily work on alignment changes without the need to cut it into smaller pieces.
Support for local design standards
Plateia is available in several languages and supports country specific road design standards, drawing layouts, traffic signs and other symbols, vehicles, etc. Plateia customers are entitled to use any country specific version of the software in case of designing projects for the foreign countries.
Road projects can be very efficiently divided among multiple team members who can then work simultaneously. Projects can be split into layout & horizontal alignment drawings, longitudinal-section drawings and cross-section drawings.
Alignments design tools “par excellence”
Plateia contains powerful alignment design and editing methods and tools. They allow you to design any combination of tangent/spiral or compound spiral/arc elements. With intelligent Best Fit algorithms you can design alignments automatically based on surveyed points.
Unique cross-section design concept
The “Design in one, draw in several cross-sections” concept allows efficient processing and editing of cross-sections. Different levels of automation allow for the fast design of segments with similar cross-sections as well as handling the cross-sections where the conditions change frequently. Each cross-section can be treated individually with interactive drafting and editing commands.
Native CAD application
Plateia is fully integrated into the CAD environment. All the data are stored in one or more DWG files. The drawings can be modified with CAD commands at any design stage giving you complete flexibility in the design process.
Plateia has a modular structure. Modules can be installed separately or in any combination. In conjunction with network licensing options (floating modules and floating packages) Plateia corporate installation can be specifically tailored for each customer.
CAD platform choice
Plateia can be installed on top of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D or BricsCAD, where the functionality always remains the same. In the future additional CAD platforms will be supported. This CAD platform choice gives Plateia customers the possibility to optimize their “Cost of ownership” without sacrificing function abilities.
Plateia is available in three different content packages to accommodate specific design requirements and needs. These options include everything from basic 2D road design projects (like urban roads, access roads, forest roads, and road reconstructions) to comprehensive 3D road modeling designs of complex multiple roads and intersections to detailed highway designs (including 3D road signs and marking designs). And with Plateia’s ultimate solution, you get support for BIM workflows and processes, as well as a selection of design data export options and swept path analysis tools.
